Our youth program develops a positive mental attitude and self-discipline through martial arts training. Students improve their ability to pay attention and follow instructions through learning the precision of skills and techniques. We believe that a strong foundation is not only built from proper technique but even more so from a positive attitude, and students begin seeing the rewards of martial arts soon after joining the program. This helps them gain the confidence needed to succeed at any challenge. Students in the youth program range in age from 5 to 12 years old. Children between the ages of 4 and 6 are evaluated on an individual basis; acceptance into the program is based on the child's ability to pay attention, exhibit self-control, and follow instructions. Our program instills discipline in students by cultivating the ability to control their impulses and behavior. Students are shown how to become more self-aware and follow instructions the first time asked. Martial arts is a mental and physical discipline and to progress students must apply themselves with a high level of focus, discipline, respect, and determination. By developing this sense of hard work and respect they may not have previously experienced, students discover its value. This then naturally carries over to all other areas of life, including at home and at school.
Fitness and coordination
In this day and age the amount of exercise kids get is usually inadequate and habits such as poor food choices and lack of exercise become hard to break as they grow. Our program helps teach the importance of making healthy lifestyle decisions and participating in physical activity on a regular basis. We help students improve in many physical areas including flexibility, strength, endurance, agility, balance, and coordination through our refined curriculum. Martial arts is a great (and fun) way for kids to stay fit and it's also a great complement to help boost physical skills in other sports.
It is inherent that self-defense is a part of any martial arts program. Our school teaches kids from the ground up the different aspects of conflict from how to avoid it to how to deal with it in an effective way. Knowing you can effectively defend yourself adds to a true sense of confidence.
