Coles Martial Arts is pleased to offer
hatha yoga.
At this time our class schedule is as
follows:
Saturday
& Sunday mornings 7:30-9am
Wednesday morning 9:30-11am
Yoga
builds flexibility & strength, improves concentration,
relieves stress and increases energy. Yoga is a great
complement to tae kwon do, as well as to other athletic
disciplines. Many of the students currently enrolled in the
yoga program combine their practice with other sports, such
as tae kwon do, running, and tennis, to name a few. For
other students, yoga is their main focus.
Our yoga program pays careful
attention to alignment, thereby increasing strength as well
as stabilizing the joints. We remain in the poses to deepen
physical awareness and to release tension. Of course we aim
to increase flexibility, but never at the expense of a
weaker part of the body. Remaining in the poses also
deepens our awareness of the breath. With time, students
find that they gain a greater sense of the connection
between body & breath, and increasingly this extends into
their daily life. Every class ends with relaxation. Both
during the actual class work and the relaxation, strong
emphasis is placed on mindfulness. Just as we learn to
engage our quads, or work to un-do tension in the shoulders,
for example, we become more aware of the movement of the
mind and how this interacts with the body & breath.
